Let’s Talk about Life...

Finding Answers, One Question at a Time

A Weekly Conversation about Your Everyday Concerns

The Results are in from our survey. We will leave it up on the website for another week (under the tab that says blogs, but it does look like Bedford is leading the race. Next, we will ask whether you prefer Saturdays or Sundays.

This Week’s Conversation: What Am I Taking In?

Most of us think about what we are taking in when we talk about food, supplements, television, social media, or the things we deliberately choose, but there is another layer that is much easier to miss. Every day we are surrounded by sound, scent, air, information, routines, conversations, and environments that become so familiar we eventually stop noticing them, even though they continue to be part of our experience.

That is what led us to this week’s question: What am I taking in? Not from a place of fear or trying to control every part of life, but from curiosity. What has become so normal that we no longer notice it, and what might change if we became aware of it again? This week we are looking at the environments we create around ourselves, the way we prepare for food, the different kinds of movement we choose, the air we share, and even the parts of Canada that shape the people who live there. Sometimes awareness isn't asking us to make a huge change, but giving us the chance to make a more conscious choice.

Over the coming weeks, we are going to be shining a light on a different Canadian province or territory in each Wellness Letter. We love shipping our products across Canada, and over the years we have come to know customers, families, friends, and acquaintances from so many different parts of this country, along with many more people we have yet to meet.

We thought this would be a lovely way to share a little more of Canada with one another. Maybe you know Nova Scotia well but have never learned much about New Brunswick, or perhaps Nunavut feels very far away and unfamiliar. Each week, we will take a small look at the food, culture, people, places, and personality of a different part of Canada, giving us all a chance to discover something new and appreciate just how much beauty, history, and character exists across this country.

For us, it is simply another way to celebrate the people and places we are so fortunate to connect with — one province and territory at a time.

Food Is Medicine

Nutrition Matters — When Does Your Meal Really Begin?

Most of us think a meal begins when we sit down and take the first bite, but by then a surprising amount has already happened. The day ahead, the choices we made earlier, the food we planned—or didn’t plan—and even the way the meal was prepared have all shaped what eventually reaches the plate.

This week, Nutrition Matters looks at the awareness, intention and planning behind our meals, and asks a different question: What do I actually need this meal to do for me today? It may change the way you think about eating long before you ever pick up your fork.

 Movement Matters

We often measure movement by time, steps, distance, or calories, but those numbers do not tell us how the movement actually affected us. An hour at the gym, time spent outside, or working physically around the house can all ask something different of the body and can leave us feeling very different afterward.

This week, Movement Matters looks at movement from another angle: not simply Did I exercise? but what did that movement give me? Strength, clarity, accomplishment, enjoyment, a change of environment, or simply the feeling that the body has been used in a way that feels good and useful.

Climate Watch

We think about air when something makes us notice it — smoke, traffic fumes, a stuffy room, or that wonderful feeling of stepping outside and taking in a breath of fresh air. Most of the time, though, air surrounds us and disappears into the background of everyday life.

This week, Allana looks at the air we share, both inside and outside our homes, and asks us to become a little more aware of what we are breathing, what we are adding to our indoor spaces, and how small choices like ventilation, aroma, and stepping outdoors can change the environment around us.

Why Clear The Air Is on Sale This Week

This week’s Wellness Letter asks, “What am I taking in?” and looks at all the things in our surroundings that become so familiar we stop noticing them. The air in our home is one of those things. Cooking smells, closed-up rooms, damp weather and everyday living can all change the atmosphere around us, even when we no longer consciously notice it. That is why we chose Clear The Air for this week’s sale — it gives us a simple way to become more intentional about what we are adding to the air we share and to give a room a fresh start when it needs one.
