Your Body Was Designed to Move
There is a saying that has stayed with me for many years:
"Motion is lotion."
It sounds simple, but there's a great deal of truth behind it.
Our bodies were designed to move. Every muscle, joint, tendon, ligament, and bone depends on regular movement to stay healthy and continue doing the jobs they were created to do. Movement helps keep our joints flexible, our muscles strong, our circulation flowing, and our balance working well. It even supports our mood, energy, confidence, and ability to enjoy everyday life.
Unfortunately, modern life often asks us to do exactly the opposite.
Many of us spend hours sitting at a desk, driving, watching television, or working at a computer. When discomfort begins, it's only natural to rest. After all, if something hurts, surely moving less will help it heal.
Sometimes, especially after an injury, rest is exactly what we need.
But when sitting becomes our primary way of managing discomfort for weeks, months, or even years, something begins to change. Muscles gradually weaken, joints become stiffer, balance declines, and circulation slows. The body begins adapting to doing less, making even simple daily activities feel more difficult than they once did.
It becomes a frustrating cycle.
We move less because we're uncomfortable, yet moving less often contributes to even more stiffness and loss of strength.
The encouraging news is that breaking this cycle doesn't require joining a gym or completing an intense workout.
In fact, some of the most valuable movement happens in the ordinary moments of everyday life.
A five-minute walk around the block.
Stretching while the kettle boils.
Taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
Working in the garden.
Playing with grandchildren.
Walking the dog.
Standing up every hour and simply moving for a few minutes.
These small moments may not seem significant on their own, but over time they remind the body what it was designed to do. Little by little, muscles become stronger, joints move more freely, circulation improves, confidence grows, and many people begin enjoying activities they had slowly started to avoid.
The goal isn't to exercise harder.
The goal is to move more often.
At Casaroma, we believe movement should fit into your life rather than take it over. Find activities you enjoy. Walk with a friend. Put on your favourite music and dance while making supper. Stretch while watching television. Explore a local trail. The best movement is the movement you'll actually continue doing.
Your body doesn't expect perfection.
It simply responds to consistency.
One five-minute walk won't change everything.
Neither will one healthy meal.
But hundreds of small choices, repeated over weeks, months, and years, have an incredible way of transforming how we feel.
Today, don't ask yourself how much exercise you should do.
Ask yourself one simple question:
"How can I move a little more than I did yesterday?"
That's often where lasting change begins.
LyzaLee's Movement Challenge

This week, I have a simple invitation for you.
Set a timer to remind yourself to stand up once every hour.
Walk around your home or workplace for just five minutes. Stretch your shoulders. Roll your ankles. Reach for the ceiling. Take a few deep breaths. If the weather is beautiful, step outside and let the fresh air greet you.
You don't have to finish exhausted.
You simply have to begin.
Those small moments of movement have a wonderful way of adding up, and before long they become part of your everyday life.
Your future self will thank you for every step you take today.
