Most rose is obtained by solvent extraction. This is called rose absolute and is also available from Casaroma.  Our lovely Rose Otto, however, is distilled from the beautiful Damask rose.  According to aromatherapy author and educator Andrea Butje it takes the petals from 30-50 roses to produce just one single drop of Rose Otto Essential Oil.  This makes rose otto one of the most costly and precious essential oils.  We love this oil for helping with grief and for PTSD.  To help make it more affordable it is diluted to 10% in jojoba.  It is still a very expensive oil, but to our minds it is worth every penny.
