Stress & Feeling Overwhelmed-

When your system will not settle down.

If you feel tired but wired, have trouble settling at night, or notice that your body stays tense even when you try to relax—this usually isn’t just “stress.”

It often means the nervous system has been under strain for long enough that it no longer shifts out of that state easily.

What’s Often Happening

The body is designed to move between activation and rest.

When something stressful happens, the system activates.
Once it’s over, it should come back down.

But when stress is ongoing—physical, emotional, or even low-level and constant—the system can stay in a more activated state.

Over time, this can show up as:

  • difficulty falling or staying asleep

  • feeling alert at night but tired during the day

  • tension in the body that doesn’t fully release

  • increased reactivity or feeling easily overwhelmed

  • digestion that slows down or becomes inconsistent

At that point, the issue is not just “stress.”
It’s that the body hasn’t been able to return to a settled state.

Why It Doesn’t Always Shift Easily

Many approaches focus on managing stress from the outside.

But if the nervous system is already in a heightened state, the body may not respond fully to those efforts.

This is why you can be:

  • doing the right things

  • taking supportive products

  • trying to rest

…and still feel like something isn’t resolving.

The system needs consistent signals of safety and support before it can begin to settle.

When to Look at This More Closely

If this pattern has been present for a while, or if things haven’t been shifting even with effort, there is usually more than one factor involved.

This is where it helps to step back and look

In this session, we look at:

  • what may be keeping your system in a more activated state

  • how different areas may be affecting each other

  • what kind of support your body is actually responding to

  • what may be missing in support

  • how different areas are interacting

This isn’t about adding more—it’s about understanding what’s already happening and working with it more effectively.
